ERIC BAPTISTE
BOARD MEMBER
Originally hailing from the twin-island state of Trinidad & Tobago, Eric attended SUNY Stony Brook, NY for both his undergraduate and graduate studies in the field of Meteorology and Satellite Remote Sensing. Eric now resides in San Diego, CA and is the Satellite Systems Manager for Enterprise Electronics Corporation.
Eric's interest in giving back to the community was sparked in high school when his family would supply and serve meals to hospice and assisted living residents during major holidays. As an adult, Eric is an avid supporter of the Wingman Foundation and the Alzheimer's Association San Diego Chapter. The Wingman Foundation is a veteran-founded non-profit organization dedicated to providing immediate post-mishap support for the Navy and Marine Corps Aviation community and their families. In addition to providing immediate support, they also ensure our fallen heroes are never forgotten and the loved ones they leave behind are always supported. The San Diego Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association mission is to ultimately end Alzheimer's and all other dementia, by facilitating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. Eric’s activities to further this goal revolve around fundraising.
VOTK is a worthwhile endeavor as it looks to provide resources, support, and outreach to not only the children but also their families. To be part of Voice of The Kids and assist in providing these services is also deeply personal to me as my godson in Trinidad & Tobago has many obstacles to overcome in order to be integrated into society and become a contributing member. Due to lack of sufficient government and community resources, support for people with disabilities is severely lacking in the Caribbean islands. Therefore, it is my hope that all of the lessons learned by my involvement in VOTK will give children like him, both here and in Trinidad & Tobago, an opportunity to maximize their potential and establish themselves in the world.
